Dangers of OTC Personal Lubricants
Bacterial Vagnosis (BV) is the most common vaginal infection in women ages 14- 49, affecting over 21.2 million (29.2%). BV occurs when the normal balance of good bacteria in the vagina is disrupted and replaced with an overgrowth of certain types of harmful bacteria. Sometimes the condition has symptoms like itching, burning, off smelling odor or discharge, but most women (84%) who have BV have no symptoms and do not know it.
When BV goes untreated, the harmful bacteria in the vagina creates a perfect host for more serious STDs and HIV. Women with BV are 60% more susceptible to contracting STDs and three times as likely to transmit them to their partners. BV also creates serious complications for pregnant women and their babies as well as increased rates of infection following surgical procedures.
The cause of BV is not fully understood and many unanswered questions remain about the role of harmful bacteria play in causing BV, but recent research has demonstrated that a single use of heavily concentrated petrochemical lubricants (like KY warming gel) increases the risk of BV by 13x. The burning sensations associated with these lubricants is a result of the genital tissue that is being destroyed by contact with these products.
Good Clean Love lubricants were found to be the safest personal lubricant causing no adverse effects to genital tissue and no risk of BV. Our products are designed to enhance and protect the delicate balance of moisture naturally found in sensitive genital tissue.

Testimonials from the Heart
I am a Director Women’s Health at the Marino Center for Integrative Health in Cambridge Massachusetts and would love to have information and samples of your Good clean love lubricant available for my patients. This is the best lubricant I have used and want to get the word out. I find the best way is to have a small sample available for patients to use. After the first experience I think my patients will be hooked. —Deb Morrill
Just a note to tell all of you that I am a thrilled customer and will be from now on. I am a Cancer survivor for 5 years now and was miserable for all those years not being able to make adequate love with my husband. It was so painful he was afraid to touch me. You are right all those other products make it worse. I burned and it felt like sand paper sex (as my Gyno puts it)! Your Good Clean Love Is a MIRACLE !!! THANK YOU so much. Anyway…you gave me my sex life back…. Very truly yours, Linda
As a sexual medicine gynecologist and sexual counselor, that specializes in female pelvic health, I am often faced with a range of female sexual dysfunction issues. One of the most effective lubricants that I recommend for persistent vaginal dryness and pain is the Good Clean Love brand personal lubricants. Even among my most sensitive patients, including cancer survivors, these lubricants are well tolerated and permit my patients to have a positive sexually satisfying sexual and sensual experience. I recommend Good Clean Love products because they are natural, organic and healthy alternatives to the petrochemical products that dominate the market. —Dr. Michael Krychman
Good Clean Love has become the preferred lubricant of most of my peri- and postmenopausal patients since I have suggested it in my gynecologic practice. It is smooth, long-lasting, and best of all, free of unnatural ingredients. I can recommend it with confidence. —Jan H Stafl, MD, FACOG
When clients ask me what personal lubricant I suggest, one brand comes to mind. Good Clean Love. Because Good Clean Love uses organic ingredients from sustainable sources, and because their products feel and taste great – without having the dangerous amounts of glycerin that other companies use, I recommend GCL’s products above all others. And if an adult boutique wants me to send my clients there, one of the ‘weeding out’ questions I ask is, ‘What lubes do you carry?’ If they don’t carry GCL, I’ll think twice before sending anybody to their store. My advice as a sexologist is: don’t just ask for any lubricant. Ask for Good Clean Love by name. It’s good for you, your partner, and the Earth – that’s a menage-a-trois worth celebrating! —Eric Marlowe Garrison, MAEd, MSc (London), ACS
